Sweet Baby Jane!

So, we've decided to name our little girl Jane. What do you think? Mary has been hooked on the name since we found out it was a girl and has felt strongly that that is to be her name. I like the name and think that it's cool to have a daughter that will be named after one of her wonderful grandmothers. My mom is pretty excited, though she tries to keep it just be modest in her excitement (she's really ecstatic). Mary's told me that I can choose the middle name but I haven't really had any ideas, though it needs to be a little bit longer name than both Jane and Hamm. We'll see what I can come up with. I have always liked the name and thought it was both cute and classic. I knew a Jane in High School and thought that she was a pretty groovy gal and ever since then I've been open to the idea of having a kid named Jane. Anyway, just thought I'd let everyone know what the name is since we've had plenty of questions about it. Whaddayuthink?

Love it! I have always liked the name. I know a middle school girl named Jane right now and she is a doll. Thanks for sharing the news!

You're lucky Chris has a rule: "no single syllable first names with single syllable last names," or Ruby would have been Jane! Mom wasn't so sure about the idea back then, but apparenly she's overcome that! I LOVE the name, I love the sweet note that Jane Cartwright (sp?) wrote to--Grandma Farmer or someone--mom has it--that said something to the effect of, "I'm not assuming you used the name because of me, but I'm glad to know that you know me and still like the name well enough to use it." or something sweet like that. The name has family history, it is perfect and classic and true sounding. I just love it. I love Mom! I love your choice!

I think its adorable too! Braden has the same rule about no same syllable names (first and last) and also no rhyming names which means its been difficult for us to even begin thinking about girl names. Boys names on the other hand we have PLENTY of so I think we're having a girl. It always turns out like that! Hope all is well with mother and baby!

We actually have the same rule reagrding one syllable names to go along with Hamm, but the feeling is very strong that Jane - is this little girl's name.

I don't have that rule, it doesn't bother me...lots of first names wind up reduced to one syllable as a result of nicknaming anyway, and girls are most likely going to have a different name most of their life, and that name is not in our control! Besides, Jane Hamm sounds good because we are so used to it. Look at Chris' family...Pamela Pierce was Pam Pierce, Christopher was Chris, Michael was Mike and Doug...ironically was Dougie. :)
