Sarah's Routine Board
So Mary had this idea a while ago to make a chore board, which we decided to call "Sarah's Routine Board" so that she doesn't view these things as chores. They consist of morning and evening routines that Sarah does and she's really excited about it right now. There are five things for each time. Her morning routine (pictured below, with the evening ones on the back) consists of making her bed, eating breakfast, getting dressed, brushing teeth, and doing her hair. Her evening routine consists of cleaning up any messes she made, reading the Book of Mormon, putting on jammies, brushing her teeth, and picking out her clothes for the next day. She's been doing this for a few days now and it has been with great anticipation that she does it each night and morning. Tonight while we were eating dinner she said, with great excitement "after dinner, in a little bit, I get to do my routine board!" As Sarah shows her excitement its had a good effect on Nathan as he gets more geared up for bedtime and is more involved in clean-up and everthing, which is a nice side-effect. Part of our long-standing nightly routine is to scratch her back while we read her Book of Mormon to her. It was funny cuz tonight I told her it would be easier for me to scratch her back if she was wearing jammies because her dress made it somewhat difficult. She was emphatic that she hadn't gotten to that point in her routine yet and that even though the back-scratching wouldn't be as successful, she wasn't going to go out of order. Pretty cute! Hopefully her excitement lasts, but we'll enjoy it for as long as it does.
So this is how it would look before Sarah started it in the evening. She would flip over the first one to see what the first thing she needs to do for the evening is and then put it on the nail below. As she completes each one she flips the next card with a picture of what she needs to do next. She really loves this thing and it was a great idea by Mary! Good job Sarah!

What a cool idea! I'll keep this in mind for the future. ;0)
I love this idea! I was wanting to do something really similar and I had found clip art to go with the different chores but real pictures are way better! Such an awesome mommy! I'm gonna copy this when we get back to the states.
How is Mary feeling? She is really close, we are really excited for you guys!
Josh come to town tomorrow so Taylor is really excited for that! He has all these fun things planned out for them to do.
You guys look like your doing great! Can't wait to here that Jane has arrived!
Yes, it is almost 3AM. Can't sleep. Had to get down here to get some pictures finished and a shower invite emailed out and while I waited for some of the slower programs to do their thing I caught up on your blog. I love Sarah's hair! It looks so grown up and cute that length, down and just straight and so thick and nice. I wish our girls weren't so scraggly in the hair dept. Anyway, love the chore board. The shower looked like so much fun, and the swing is so great! ELECTRICITY CONVENIENCE! I still await pics of the nursery/Sarah's room, there are hints of it in a few of your posts and I always study the background for details. Great job with the garden. You totally look like dad in the profile of you pushing the rotatiller...I literally sat there thinking, "that's weird, did mom and dad just go there?" but I assume that is you!
Great idea! We just started a chore chart with Tyler, and this looks much more "motivating!"
