Puppet Show

The other day I had an idea (after the kids went to bed) that we should do some puppet shows behind the couch and I thought that Sarah and Nathan would really enjoy that. We forgot about it for a few days and then Mary remembered it so we told them we had a surprise for them after dinner. They were very excited about the surprise (Sarah was excited about the surprise, Nathan was excited because Sarah was excited... he had no clue what he was supposed to be excited about). After dinner we had them sit on the couch across the room and we went down behind the other couch and popped our hands up with some puppets. The kids were thrilled! There favorite thing was to "crash the party" by running over and jumping on the couch and attacking our puppets as well as trying to scare us behind the couch... giggling all the way, of course. We would let them do that for a bit and then ask them to return to the couch so the show could resume and they would... for about 5 seconds. We began switching roles and it was pretty cute to watch them try to be puppets. Sarah tried to get into the puppet roles. Nathan just wanted to either attack Sarah's puppet with his or have us attack his puppet. It was fun nonetheless and they have requested several puppet shows since then and they have also put on several of their own. Pretty cute!

Nathan liked to be on the side of the couch where both he and his puppet could be seen (and he could see what was going on)

Hey I just looked at the games you guys enjoy. We've played corcozonne(sp?) too and it IS a lot of fun. Similar to settlers. We also really love Mormon Bridge! It's got to be my favorite card game. I've heard the ticket to ride games are fun but haven't played them. If we make it to the reunion we'll definately have to play some with you guys.

Nanu & Bumpa had a wonderfultime visiting the kids this past Memorial Day weekend.
We are so glad that we were able to arrive in time for Mary & Jeff to have a luncheon date which was badly needed after the last little angel's arrival... Baby Jane is just precious!
Bumpa especially had a fun time with the puppet show play and we both enjoyed soooo much taking Sarah & Nathan to the sand dunes state park and so glad that Jeff decided to come also. We know that we took pics, but Jeff, if you could post pictures that you took with Bumpa with the kids on the dunes we would really appreciate it!
Miss you guys already!!!!!

I love puppet shows! I have been really wanting to make the girls a little puppet house with a curtain and chalkboard on front to write the name of the act (well once they can write). I saw it at Pottery Barn kids, it was really expensive and I decided I could make it for way cheaper. Hmmm. I need to remember that for Christmas this year.
We pull our couch out and use little scripts from the friend and act out our FHE lessons, the kids love it! We haven't done that for a while, thanks for the reminder.
I can just picture the kids sneaking, oh so unsneakily up to "crash the party" so cute! You guys are such great parents! How are you doing with three? Or more appropriately, how is Mary doing? Has she felt it was a bigger transition from 2 to 3 than 1 to 2 was?

Good family times. I bet your creativity has led to many a fun moment for the kids since discovering the new game.
