I am having one of those days where I am racking up a never ending to do list by the minute -somewhere in the part of my brain that likes to hold such joyous information and has the uncanny ability to re-register it over and over so I cannot stop thinking about everything that I have not yet gotten to. Why can't it go to that part of my brain that lets information like my kids birthdays and my current zip code fade away into thin air???
Anway - back on topic. But first . . . why do I use this symbol "-" so often? Is it because I know next to nothing about grammar? Alright, alright, I will get back on topic.
I had to stop for a minute to make the kiddos lunch and I took a look at my surroundings. It was a mess even though it was clean (mostly) 2 hours ago. As many of you know, I like to be clean and organized - it is important to me and I definitely make an effort of it. I prompt the kids a couple times a day to clean up and I usually run thru the house to pick up items too. I do the same thing when I know someone is coming over - I don't know why it matters to me, but it does. I also know that over time (ie when more kids join our family) it will probably have to become even less important in order to maintain my sense of sanity.
This for anyone who has come over to my house (when I knew you were coming) and has thought "Oh look! mary is so clean and organized. My house is a wreck."
Of course this is just one confession - but that never ending list is starting to bug me again. It brings me some comfort to consider that other women may be just as normal and imperfect as I am - even when it come to their strengths.

One thing I love about our split level is that Ella's room and her play area are on the ground floor with the "family" room. That's where we have the tv, casual furniture, etc. The "living" room - with the nice stuff - is upstairs with the kitchen and dining room. Since there's no tv up there, it's more for entertaining guests, reading, and relaxing. Basically, an oasis virtually free of clutter. Definitely helps with the sanity! I try to tackle a few things a day, but not stress about it too much. Whatever doesn't get completely clean today will still be there tomorrow, right? ;0)
It's good to see you are perfectly imperfect, if you were always perfect life would surely be a drag!
Oh -- Mary! So glad to see you are as normal as the rest of us!! If a mess every once in a while is not normal then I am in BIG trouble!?!
Hey, I found your blog on Desiree's blog. Congrats on adding to the family. Hope all is well up north. And about the clean freak, I used to be one too, now I realize spending time with family is more important to me that a clean room. We do keep a pretty clean house about once a day, but it gets trashed within an hour of being clean. Keep in touch. My email is lisab_b@yahoo.com send me your email address and I will send an invite to our family blog.
